Massive news has broken this morning from camp Marvel as the Inhumans movie has been removed from the pre-production lineup. After being pushed further and further back, due to the addition of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Ant-Man and the Wasp, it looks like Marvel Studios has finally removed it from the tail end of Phase 3 altogether. What makes this piece of news so interesting however is a rumour that came from Bleeding Cool last year stating that Marvel Studios has been keen to get Inhumans off their rosta for a while.
In the report, Bleeding Cool said that the now head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige had never want to add the Inhumans movie the announced lineup. Apparently, Feige was only allowed to reveal Black Panther and Captain Marvel if the Inhumans movie was also announced. This was before Ike Perlmutter was removed from the film side of Marvel Studios by owners Disney. Bleeding Cool was the first website to report on the behind the scenes trouble with Fox’s Fant4stic and has a reputation for getting reliable scoops. The website has also voiced it opinion on the latest news which you can read here.
But what does this mean for Marvel TV? The popular show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has dedicated most of its second and third season to setting up for the Inhumans film and Ike Perlmutter will certainly not be happy to see this set up has now been made largely redundant. The focus for the show at the moment is on Hive and the formation of Secret Warriors (all of whom are Inhumans).
Apart from a script (written by Black Panther’s Joe Robert Cole) the Inhumans movie was still deep in pre-production. Marvel have said that they are still looking to make an Inhumans movie however it will not be between now and 2020. What do you think of the Inhumans being removed from the Phase 3 lineup?
