Fish jokes… how original. Well Aquaman is no strange to ridicule in the superhero world as actor Jason Momoa has found out. Whilst doing an interview at a Fan Expo in Canada, the Game of Thrones actor addressed the humour with which the character of Aquaman is so often viewed.
You know, it’s cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him. But I’m like ‘Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes…
Jason Momoa was cast last year as the half Atlantean Arthur Curry and will make his first appearance in this next year’s Batman v.s Superman: Dawn of Justice. After this, we will see him again in Justice League: Part 1 (2017), Aquaman (2018) and Justice League: Part 2 (2019). In keeping with the darker themes throughout the DC Cinematic Universe the character has also been given a very sizeable makeover, which you can view below. It was recently announced that the stand alone Aquaman film in 2018 would be helmed by James Wan off the back of his success with Furious 7 and The Conjuring.
If you don’t know much about Aquaman there are in fact plenty of places to start. Geoff Johns’ Aquaman, in The New 52 was probably one of the best comicbook runs on the character, in part due to the way it faced the more humours side of Arthur head on. The first issue of this set is Aquaman Volume 1: The Trench and is available to purchase at most online retailers. A few tiles of the comic you can see at the bottom of the page.
