What’s up everybody and welcome to the Nintendo News Roundup. This is the special E3 edition of the roundup, part two. Did you miss any of the coverage or was it just too much to see all of it? Well, look no further. Here you’ll find the important news, not so important news, and Nintendo things that are just news to me.
Pokemon GO Plus release window, gameplay, and more
At 10 AM PT today the Nintendo Treehouse Live crew sat down and had a Q&A with several developers of Pokemon GO. They showed off some gameplay with a few field testers. The gameplay looks…underwhelming at best. I don’t know how immersed you’ll be able to get into it. I don’t know if the graphics for the Pokemon are final, but looking at the pictures that were shown by the field testers its hard to suspend disbelief and pretend the Pokemon are really there. I guess I was expecting something more. I also feel like when this game comes out; there will be accidents with people being idiots. Pokemon GO will have PokeStops, where you can collect items such as PokeBalls, berries, and Pokemon Eggs; it was also announced that Pokemon Go will work with Pokemon Sun and Moon in the future.
They also talked quite a bit about the Pokemon GO Plus Accessory. It is compatible with any smart phone and connects via Bluetooth. Both your phone and the Plus accessory vibrate when within range of each other and when Pokemon are close by. When that happens you can attempt to catch a Pokemon without having to look at your phone by simply pressing the button on the device and it works like this:
- When a Pokemon encounter is occurring it will vibrate and the button will flash green.
- You press the button, at this point you will attempt to catch the Pokemon.
- If you catch the Pokemon the button with go through a rainbow color flow.
- If you don’t catch the Pokemon the button turns red.
I see this as a way to mitigate the accidents through idiocy by keeping your eyes off your phone so you’ll be aware of your surroundings. However, how exactly this game works without looking at your phone is a little odd to me. In the demonstrations when looking at your phone/smart device during a Pokemon encounter you know when to throw the Pokeball because there is a circle around the Pokemon and an inner circle that gets smaller. The smaller the circle is when you throw the Pokeball the higher the chances of catching it. So, I guess when using the device it just leaves it up to chance? I guess we’ll know for sure once we all get our hands on it. The Pokemon Go Plus and Pokemon GO App will be available late July. The Pokemon GO Plus will retail for $34.99 USD. The Pokemon GO App is free on the App store and Google Play store.

New game Ever Oasis revealed
Nintendo has revealed GREZZO Co., LTD., the people behind The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (and led by Koichi Ishii, best known for his work on Square Enix’s Mana series), are hard at work on a new Action-Adventure RPG called Ever Oasis. From what I saw in the trailer it looks like a cross between: The Legend of Zelda, Monster Hunter, and Animal Crossing.
In a world inspired by Egyptian culture/Mythology you play as a chosen Seedling to build a prosperous oasis with your partner, Isuna. You fight enemies in real-time combat switching between three party members and complete missions, forage for food/materials, and ally yourself with other tribes to battle against the chaos threatening the desert. Ever Oasis has a release window of 2017 and will be available for the Nintendo 3DS. Check out the trailer below.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past release date and new trailer
I’m going to be honest it’s been a long time since I’ve played or even really cared about a Dragon Quest game (Dragon Quest just never resonated with me like Final Fantasy), but this ground up rebuild for the Nintendo 3DS does have my attention. In Dragon Quest VII you travel through time to restore forgotten lands and battle an unknown evil. The game features 30 different job classes to level up and learn new abilities and spells for as you turn-based battle your way through the game. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past releases SEPT 16 on Nintendo 3DS and retails for $ 39.99 USD. Check out the trailer below.
BoxBoxBoy! gameplay demo
The sequel to the critically acclaimed Nintendo 3DS title, BoxBoy!. In BoxBoxBoy! you take control of Qbby and his new ability to create two sets of boxes (yes, two sets) as you make your way through more than 120 New levels. I never played the original so I doubt I’ll play this one, but for those of you excited for BoxBoxBoy! you don’t have very long to wait. The game comes out this month, JUN 30, and retails for $4.99 USD. Check out the Treehouse Live demonstration below.
New Mario Party for Nintendo 3DS

Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls official gameplay shown
It looks like Nintendo isn’t going to abandon the goal of having Yo-kai Watch becoming the next Pokemon in the West (Japan has already surrendered to it). Enter Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls; splitting off into two games this time around. With more than 350 new and returning Yo-kai. You can explore new towns and team up with Hovernyan the heroic cat and travel back in time to save Springdale and witness the origin of Yo-kai Watch. Both versions come out SEPT 30 on Nintendo 3DS. you can check out the official game trailer below.
That should be it for all the new announcements for E3, but if anything happens I’ll be here to keep everyone posted. Remember for more information on what Nintendo has planned for the rest of the week you can go to e3.nintendo.com and as always; that isn’t all the Nintendo news stories, but those are the important ones to me. If you feel like I’ve missed anything Nintendo related that happened this week that is important or just important to you, please feel free to share them in the comments below.
And here are a couple of bonus game trailers for you all…
