What’s up everybody and welcome to the Nintendo News Roundup. Did you miss any of the news regarding Nintendo this week? Well look no further. Here you’ll find the important news, not so important news, and Nintendo things that are just news to me.

New Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer released

All you Poké-maniacs got a lot of new information with the release of the most recent Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer. The trailer showcased new Pokémon, Alolan Pokémon variants, Z-Moves and more. The most interesting thing in the trailer to me was the addition of Alolan Pokémon variants. The three Alolan Variant Pokémon in the trailer are Gen-1 Pokémon Sandshrew, Vulpix, their respective evolution’s, and Exeggutor. The Alolan Exeggutor gets the addition of being a dragon-type as well as a more interesting form. The other two have completely changed types. Sandshrew is now ice/steel and Vulpix ice as well, with its evolution Ninetales being ice/fairy-type with each having makeovers as well. As someone that hasn’t been into any Pokémon lately, Nintendo is hitting the Red/Blue/Yellow version nostalgia notes with me. Now I want the game just to see what other Gen-1 variants there might be. Rock/fire-type Bulbasaur with a volcano on its back instead of a flower please.

For the rest of the details you can check out the trailer below. Oricorio is an interesting new Pokémon in the trailer. It’s like Darwin’s Finches. I might be the only one that thinks that’s neat.

Nintendo NX will have an epic games line-up next year and other rumors

Website MCV has reported that Nintendo has been quite busy concerning the games available on the Nintendo NX. MCV’s sources close to Nintendo have told the website Nintendo plans on releasing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a new Pokémon, and a new Mario within the first six months of the consoles life. According to the sources mentioned by MCV it’s an attempt by Nintendo to avoid the slow start that happend with the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. As Many of you may remember the Nintendo 3DS was able to recover. The Wii U was not so lucky. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will most likely be a launch title for the system and I’m guessing the new Mario and Pokémon will be the system’s big Fall games.

Nintendo has also been quite busy securing the system all the third-party support it can get. MCV’s insider sources are saying Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision, and Warner Brothers have already agreed to put out games on the system. Just another precaution to make sure the Nintendo NX doesn’t suffer the software droughts that plagued the Wii U. The Wii U did have plenty of third-party support in the beginning of its life, but that changed rather quickly. It’s still going to be a wait an see if these gaming companies do indeed back the NX for a long term period.

The same sources also back-up what Eurogamer reported last week about the Nintendo NX being a portable system with breakaway controllers and TV connectivity. Euro gamer notes that the power output of the NX will be between the PS3 and PS4 and targeting the smartphone demographic of gamers. This may be an attempt to upgrade casual gamers to a better gaming experience?

Nintendo Power has been archived and now available online

As a kid growing up in the 90’s playing video games, there were very few things in the world that were more exciting than getting a video game magazine in the mail. Unlike today, because of the ubiquity of the internet where information is just a Google search away, Nintendo Power was our only view into the world of video games. The news, the walk-throughs, and the reviews; it was the only way to get any information. No magazine was more important to me than Nintendo Power. So, you can understand my excitement now that Nintendo Power is available to be consumed by all. It isn’t the entire collection, but we can hope that they finish putting them up. Currently it’s issues 001 July/August 1988 all the way to issue 145 June 2001. Thirteen years of Nintendo history and goodness. It’s like looking into a time capsule. I implore anyone that loves Nintendo or just video games in general to look at the archive and enjoy it. It’s amazing to see how far video games have come in such a short time. You can check out the archive right here.
