Degica, Kadokawa, and Chara-ani are bringing G.Rev’s Senko no Ronde 2 to PC and PS4. This entry in the series is a reboot of Senko no Ronde DUO which never made it to the West. The game itself mixes the fighting and shmup genres. Players in the West may know the series as “WarTech,” the first console entry’s localized title. For those who are not familiar with the events of the first game, there will be a summary in the gallery mode.
This reboot features more bullets, stronger B.O.S.S. attacks, and a bigger story. It will also have HD graphics and new Japanese voice acting. In addition to tackling the game’s story and arcade modes, players will be able to battle others online or locally. Players can also hone their skills in practice mode or see just how well they can do in score attack.
Senko no Ronde 2 takes place in the distant future. The Earth is no longer habitable and humanity now lives throughout the Solar system. After terrorists stole a weapon of mass destruction from the Arria Federation, they could no longer hide that they were in possession of illegal arms. As rumours of secession spread, Luchino Narukami of the Federation’s ruling family gains influence with promises of reform. However, it is not long before conflict begins in the Federation’s colony of Harmonia. Some say that Luchino is behind this battle.
There are three factions in the game, each of which have three mecha pilots. The story focuses on these pilots and their partners. There are a few other significant individuals in the world as well. So far, the publishers have shown off 14 pilots for players to choose from. The trailer promises that more will be coming as DLC.
Both the trailer and the English site tease a limited edition. This package includes the soundtrack, a DVD, and a book. The game should also have a standard physical edition for PS4. However, no retailers outside of Japan seem to have it listed right now.
Senko no Ronde 2 will release on September 7, 2017.
