Star Wars fans should prepare themselves to enter Echo Base a bit earlier than expected as a beta for Star Wars: Battlefront has just been announced.
The beta will feature three modes; the first of which is the “Walker Assault on Hoth”, the mode that was first shown at E3 2015, this mode features 40-player battles and will give players the chance to play as either Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. The second mode is the horde-like Survival Mission on Tatooine where players will face off against hordes of AI controlled Imperial troops. The third mode is something called “Drop Zone”, which DICE said they’ll release info on shortly.
DICE also announced that a new feature coming to the site called the “Star Wars Battlefront Companion”. This feature will have a strategic card game called Base Command that will unlock various things in the main game, players will also be able to check stats from the main game in this companion. There will also be a mobile app version of the companion that will be available to download before the release of the game.
While there’s no concrete date just yet, the Star Wars: Battlefront beta is expected to drop in early October. Star Wars: Battlefront is set to release on November 17 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
