Indie games have been flourishing on the Nintendo Switch and the developer of SteamWorld Dig 2 is delighted with how the players have embraced their newest game. Far more Switch owners have joined Dorothy on her dig than their counterparts on Steam.
Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the CEO of Image & Form Games, appeared recently on Game Two, a German YouTube gaming channel. In that video he revealed that the Nintendo Switch version of Steamworld Dig 2 sold nearly 10 times as many copies as the Steam version. You can watch his statement below. You’ll want to check out the 16:26 mark on the video. Don’t worry if you do not speak German, his statement is in English.
While Sigurgeirsson did not reveal specific sales numbers, SteamSpy estimates that roughly 31,000 copies of the game were sold on Steam (give or take about 5,000 copies). That could put the Nintendo Switch version of the game at around 300,000 copies sold.
No word as of yet on how the PS4 version of the game fared.
