If you felt that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been declining on Twitch, you are not wrong. PUBG has been available on Steam for exactly one year now as of today and despite surprisingly strong growth, the game is in decline. That is largely due to the rising popularity of Fortnite Battle Royale according to a recent report from SuperData.
The above graph is from SuperData’s report and shows that Fortnite had over 14 million unique viewers in February while PUBG brought in 8.7 million unique users during the same month.
To add to the sting, SuperData reports that Fortnite has also surpassed PUBG in revenues last month $126 million versus $103 million. The revenue for PUBG reached its peak in December and has been in decline ever since.
SuperData attributes the success of Fortnite Battle Royale to its accessibility. That game is free to play whereas PUBG costs $30. PUBG is currently only available on PC, Xbox One and mobile while Fortnite is on those platforms and the PlayStation 4.
