The myth, the legend that is The Last Guardian has been delayed yet again. Originally set to release this October, president Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that The Last Guardian will now release on December 6, 2016.
Shuhei states the specific reason for the delay in a recent PlayStation Blog post;
“A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.”
Now, I am not against delays necessarily as long as the developers truly use the time to perfect the game, but The Last Guardian is a game that has been on life support for a decade. The fact that it is being delayed yet again makes you wonder how much surgery is required to bring this game to life.
As disappointed as this news may be, I am still looking forward to this game as it promises to be a unique and rewarding experience. Let’s just hope all this surgery pays off.
