The animation feature The Secret Life of Pets has taken Finding Dory off the top spot at this weekends box office. Secret Life opened with $103 million in it’s opening weekend easily becoming the top movie as Finding Dory dropped to number three taking in $20.3 million. The Secret Life of Pets tells the tale of what happens when the owners leave the house.

Finding Dory may have dropped from the top of the domestic box office as it topped Civil War as the highest grossing movie of 2016. The Legend of Tarzan stayed in second place while Purge 3 dropped down to number 5 right under the new comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Mike and Dave opened it’s first weekend with a generous haul of $16.6 million.

Top Five Weekend Movies

  1. The Secret Life of Pets – $103 million
  2. The Legend of Tarzan – $20.6 million
  3. Finding Dory – $20.3 million
  4. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates – $16.6 million

Next weekend Ghostbusters will be finally releasing. I highly doubt this movie will become the top movie for next weekend. The movie is getting some decent reviews and it looks like it could gross around $40-50 million in it’s first weekend.
