This week, Weappy Studio announced the return of their unique strategy/adventure indie game with This is The Police 2! The mature-rated (17+) sequel is set to release on all major platforms (PC/MacOS, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) in 2018 with some major new twists.
This time we take on the role of female sheriff Lilly Reed (voiced by Sarah Hamilton, of the celebrated adventure saga The Longest Journey), as she navigates through the cold border town of Sharpwood. This is the Police 2 will still be a mixture of adventure and management genres, but this time it will include way more unexpected mechanics that look to strengthen both the strategic and tactical parts of the game. We get to participate in a harsh story where no one is completely innocent, and everything is built on maintaining personal relationships in order to survive. Choose wisely as every decision you make has a direct effect on the games varying outcomes.
I stumbled onto the original This is the Police game when it launched on the Nintendo Switch in October of last year. I was floored by the mature writing, captivating art style, and fantastic voice acting work of gritty Police Chief Jack Boyd (portrayed by Jon St. John, the voice of Duke Nukem). This acclaimed noir drama is another Iron Lords Podcast cult favorite and I gave it the “Lord Cognito Seal of Approval” in ILP episode #37 (34:27 mark). If you are fan of strategy/resource management games (like XCOM), urban simulation (like Sim City) and great natural dialogue (like Firewatch) keep this game on your radar! I’m super excited the sequel to one of my favorite indie games of 2017 is returning under THQ Nordic!
