Following the success of Daredevil on Netflix earlier this year, the next entry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is hitting Netflix next month as Jessica Jones jumps into action.
The trailer shows Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) as the titular hero, Jessica Jones. The show seems to have a very dark tone which follows in the steps of Daredevil; the show’s main villain The Purple Man, played by David Tennant (Dr. Who), appears to be an incredibly scary villain and will give the show an R-rated feeling. The trailer also shows Mike Colter (Halo 5: Guardians) as the iconic Marvel hero, Luke Cage; Luke Cage will be receiving his own Netflix show in 2016.
Jessica Jones is based on a critically acclaimed comic mini-series about a superhero named Jewel who retires after traumatic events and becomes a private investigator; the show will follow the same basic plot with some twists and turns to keep fans on their toes.
Jessica Jones is the second of a series of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that Marvel is producing for Netflix. Daredevil was the first, with a second season of Daredevil and shows based on Luke Cage and Iron Fist coming later down the line; these shows will culminate in a crossover show called The Defenders.
Jessica Jones will release exclusively on Netflix on November 20th.
