Recent data indicates that by 2019, combined Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sales could reach 108 million worldwide, with Sony’s console leading with 69 million sold and Microsoft’s Xbox One with 39 million.

The data was recently made public and initially featured in a Game Developers Conference (GDC) presentation from World of Tanks developer Wargaming creative director and executive producer TJ Wagner.

One of the presentation slides claims there are 36 million active PS4 consoles in the market and 19 million Xbox Ones. Wargaming gets their figures from many sources that include Superdata, IDG Consulting, and IHS, so keep in mind that the numbers don’t come directly from one particular source.

Sony officially stated that in January 2016, it sold nearly 36 million systems globally. Microsoft hasn’t released official Xbox One sales numbers, yet reports indicate that there are at least 18 million active Xbox Ones out there.

The full Wargaming GDC presentation is jam packed with insights on the console free-to-play market and more. If you’d like to have a look at the presentation but are pressed on time, be sure to check out the cliffs notes edition here.
