After a week in which the games industry’s biggest brands battled it out for supremacy at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, Youtube have finally announced which video games have amassed the most views since their reveal at the event.
The big winner at the event was Star Wars Battlefront 2 which force-crushed all who came before it to amass an impressive 8.7 million youtube views in the span of 6 days. The intergalactic war game was also the most viewed game of the show as well, with viewership figures peaking at the time of it’s reveal, according to Youtube (Via Polygon).
Impressively, the Super Mario Odyssey trailer managed to come in second place. The Italian immigrant with questionable plumbing experience managed to rack up 5.5 million youtube views which is even more impressive when you consider that the trailer didn’t drop until Tuesday when most other game announcements had landed.
Youtube didn’t simply analyse which trailer gained the most views, it also monitored the content which was being uploaded in relation to the games, whether it was duplicate trailers, gameplay, media coverage, or fan-reactions.
